Home Inspector: Reuben D. Saltzman
Meet Reuben D. Saltzman. Reuben moved to Maple Grove in 2011 and grew up in St. Louis Park. His family consists of his wife, Anna, his kids, Cy and Lucy, and a German shepherd named Sarge.
Reuben owns Structure Tech, a home inspection company. He also has a blog, podcast, live classes, and videos that teach homeowners and real estate agents. His blog, The Home Inspector, is posted in the Star Tribune every week. His podcast is called Structure Talk, and he is a recurring guest Saturday mornings on the All Around Home Improvement Radio Show at noon on AM 1130.
Q: What is your favorite restaurant in Maple Grove and what do you love to eat there?
A: Rusty Taco is my go-to location for quick lunch meetings. Everyone loves tacos!
Q: What volunteer work have you done or are you doing?
A: Feed My Starving Children is my family’s favorite volunteer activity. I can pack food like nobody's business!
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in Maple Grove? What do you find interesting about him/her?
A: My Pastor, Jonathan Brozozog. He's dynamic, insightful, passionate, funny, and he exudes leadership.
Q: What’s your favorite famous or inspirational quote or Bible verse(s)?
A: Just one? I have so many! Let's go with Philippians 4:6, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."
Q: What was the last book you read? Would you recommend it to others?
A: Blink by Malcolm Gladwell. It's a fascinating look into our ability to make correct decisions with an unbelievably small amount of input, largely based on our subconscious brain.
Q: What’s the coolest or most interesting thing you’re working on right now?
A: We're rolling out a new program to offer on-demand continuing education classes to real estate agents.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about Maple Grove?
A: I love the Elm Creek Park Reserve. The playground is awesome, the swim area rocks, the disc-golf course is top-notch, the picnic area makes for a fun company party during the summer, and snow tubing is always a blast in the winter. Oh, and I can’t forget the bike trails.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?
A: In 10 years: much smaller house, spending the winters in a warm climate.
Q: What is your proudest accomplishment?
A: My company won the "Best Place to Work" award from the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal in 2018.

A: Love, security, clean
