Artist: Barbara Lance Alldaffer

Meet Barbara Lance Alldaffer. Barbara is an award winning artist and the owner of Rainbow Party Arts, a local children’s entertainment company. She specializes in creating fun experiences that bring family and community together with face painting, balloon art, art activities, airbrush, henna, caricatures, and more! You may recognize her work from the many grand openings, birthday parties, and events all over Maple Grove and the Twin Cities.

Barbara has been face painting since she was a teenager. She studied fine art and anthropology in college. She loves to provide something special and fun to help bring families and community together in a spirit of joy. Another reason she has a deep empathy for children is that she lost her mom to cancer when she was only seven years old.

During the pandemic, Barbara has been looking forward to the day when she can be entertaining again. In the meanwhile, she has been creating pet portraits for commissions. She is offering art classes as well as gift caricatures and balloon art!

Q: What inspired you or led you to your current career?

A: I love to use my art skills to bring families together to enjoy community activities and spread joy. I like to be a cheerful ambassador for our community. Maple Grove is a great place for families!

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now (and it were safe to do so), where would it be? Why?

A: I would travel to England. I’ve been studying my genealogy for years, and I’ve tracked my ancestors back to families in England. It would be great to go and see their land and homes.

Q: What is your favorite movie OR what is the first movie you remember seeing in a theatre? Anything you want to say about the movie?

A: The first movie was the original Star Wars. It is the movie that inspired me to start drawing and painting. I was 10 years old, and I drew characters from the movie for my friends

A: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Q: What is the one TV show you can’t miss?

A: The Rifleman.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about Maple Grove? Please share the memory of that local business that makes it nostalgic for you.

A: There are so many! I have so many fun memories of incredible events throughout Maple Grove and the wonderful families that I was able to meet. My team and I have greatly enjoyed being a part of each and every one over the years!

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about Maple Grove?

A: The people, families, amenities, and the abundant nature. I love living near Elm Creek Park Reserve. I enjoy photographing so many animals that visit our home in the woods.

Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?

A: I am a first technologies "expert" from my years as a historical interpreter on the staff at the Jamestown Settlement in Virginia.

Q: What 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?

A: Family, comfort, happiness.
